Chumby

Chumby is now available in Australia (click here). This is a little device that I guess is best described as a glorified alarm clock. Here is David Pogue’s review.

I have one that I bought from the US a while back. What it does is connect wirelessly to your WiFi network. You can then install widgets including stuff that shows you the news, weather, traffic, email, etc. You can also connect an iPod to play through it.

My favourite bit is the alarm clock. You can customise it day by day with all manner of different options. This is especially good if you get up at different times depending upon the day.

That said, it isn’t perfect yet but maybe with updates it will get there. It could also use a battery back-up built in. I bought an alternative but haven’t been able to get it to work yet.

Cool! Interesting that even though I’m an internode subscriber, I’m hearing it from you. Doesn’t say much about their marketing department.

Joshua, thanks for posting that – I saw the Pogue review earlier in the year and have lusted after one ever since.

A shame they didn’t ship them earlier (before the dollar dipped).

Does it have a (non-internet) radio?
