iPhone shut out?

Apple Insider reports on the barriers to the iPhone in Canada [HT: Martin Byford]. For the same reason, with current data charges in Australia, we wont be seeing the iPhone here anytime soon. So when exactly are we going to feel like first class world citizens in telecommunications?
