Two decision problems

In the Freakonomics blog today, two decision problems, each with non-rational answers. First, this one on waiting for the bus. Second, this one on scalping Hannah Montana tickets.

  1. Funny how Levitt promises to keep the Hannah Montana economist’s identity secret, but then reveals that his daughter’s name is “Annika”. How many economists could there be who have a daughter with such a freaky name?

  2. I know one economist with a daughter of that name (though I don’t think he knows Steve Levitt) (and named well before Freakonomics.

In addition there is a women golfer, Annika Sorenson – maybe it is a Scandinavian name?

It is a nice name (a lot better than many out there)
