The end of confusopoly?

I have previously written about how hard it is to work out whether you are getting a good deal from your electricity provider. A few years ago I attempted to work that out with mixed results. So when I heard about a new website, goswitch.com.au, that claimed to work that out and find you the best deal I just had to try it.

What it told me was that I could save $100 annually by going with some company called ClickEnergy rather than my current provider, Origin. It even allowed me to apply right then and there to get that offer. But then when I read the details a little further I found that the $100 saving was all as a lump sum offer for switching and the tariffs were all the same otherwise. So I rang up Origin, claimed I was switching and they gave me lower tariffs for a year; worth I think about $100. Confusopoly reigns.
